A Tribute to Stephen Fry - Gala Dinner

The British Red Cross paid tribute to actor, writer and
presenter Stephen Fry at a special gala dinner at the City of
London’s Guildhall.
Prior to the event, Stephen Fry received the Freedom of the City of
London, which is the highest honour the City can
bestow. He was nominated by the Red Cross International Fundraising
Committee in recognition of his humanitarianism in supporting a variety of
causes and inspiring his millions of followers to do the same. Maria
Shammas MBE, chairman of the British Red Cross International Fundraising
Committee, said: “The British Red Cross is delighted to be paying tribute to
one of the finest and most outstanding English actors of our time, while
raising money for those most affected by the terrible famine in
Somalia.”

A Tribute to Annie Lennox - Gala Dinner
September 2009, Guildhall, London
Dedicated philanthropist Annie Lennox was honoured as a
Freeman of the City of London after being nominated by the British Red
Cross.
The presentation at London's Guildhall on 1 December was followed by a
star-studded dinner and musical tribute presented by Stephen Fry and hosted
by the Red Cross. Performers included the Noisettes, Little Boots and
the African Children’s Choir.
